US Basketball Writers Association, Associated Press and College Sports Communicators honor sophomore forward
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball sophomore Aneesah Morrow earned three All-American nods on Wednesday afternoon, picking up Third Team honors from the US Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), the Associated Press and an Academic All-America certificate from College Sports Communicators.
The Chicago native earned USBWA and AP All-America honors for the second-straight season after hauling in Second Team accolades a season ago. Morrow remains the fourth Blue Demon to land on an AP All-American team while becoming the third member of the program to collect honors in two or more seasons.
DePaul's sixth College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America selection in program history, Morrow boasts a 3.75 GPA in Communication and Media and has landed on the dean's list and athletic director's honor roll in every quarter of her young career.
Morrow had a standout 2022-23 campaign for the Blue Demons leading the way with 25.7 points per game to go with 12.2 rebounds while collecting 25 double-doubles in 33 games. Her scoring average ranks fourth nationally and her rebounds per game ranks sixth while her double-double tally is good for third.
With 848 points this season, Morrow broke the program's single season scoring record that was previously held by Diana Vines' 804 points in the 1988-89 season. Her season average is second all-time in program history while her 403 rebounds in 2022-23 trails only her own freshman season total of 457 boards.
A unanimous All-BIG EAST selection, finalist for the Katrina McClain Award Power Forward of the Year Award and Wooden National Player of the Year candidate, Morrow finished in double figures in all but one game this season while notching 28 outings of 20 or more points including eight performances of 30+ points.
The Chicago native has put up incredible numbers in just two seasons of collegiate basketball, ranking 19th in program history in scoring with 1,570 points. Morrow ranks eighth all-time in rebounds and blocks with 860 caroms and 102 rejections.
