Bernstein Takes First, DePaul Completes Day One of Gary Weineke Memorial

The Blue Demons Complete Day One in Champaign
CHAMPAIGN – DePaul track and field completes day one of the Gary Weineke Memorial Meet hosted by the University of Illinois on Friday afternoon. Alex Bernstein walked away with DePaul's sole first place finish, multiple other performances earned silver and bronze.
To kick off the day Alex Berstein earned gold and a new personal best in the men's hammer throw with a final distance of 64.32m. Billie Martin followed up with a third place finish on the women's side, clearing a final distance of 56.50m.
Freshman Eveline Reno earned herself bronze in the women's triple jump with a final distance of 11.71m. Charlotte Anderson claimed silver in the women's javelin with a final distance of 42.49m to round out the field events.
As the Blue Demons concluded the first day of the meet in the oval, Tommy Elwood nabbed a second place finish in the men's 5000m completing the event in 14:28.19.
