BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle Matchups Announced

NEW YORK – The 2023 BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle Matchups were announced Thursday morning by the league offices. DePaul will play host to the Big 12's Iowa State Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. Times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
Next year's contest will be the first meeting between the two programs in over 55 years as the only prior matchup took place Dec. 20, 1967 inside Alumni Hall. DePaul won the first meeting 67-63 for a 1-0 lead in the series. Iowa State went 19-14 last season with a 9-9 finish in Big 12 play before losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Pitt.
DePaul will participate in the Battle for the second time and first since the inaugural year in 2019. In the 2019 event, the Blue Demons defeated Texas Tech in a thrilling 65-60 overtime victory inside Wintrust Arena.
Next year's matchups will be the fifth edition of the Battle as the last three years have been tied between the conferences. With each conference adding member schools since the start of the original agreement, the Battle is set to increase from 10 to 11 matchups for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
