Chico Carter Jr. Signs With Blue Demons

CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team announced its newest transfer addition, Monday afternoon, with the official signing of Chico Carter Jr. Carter Jr. comes to DePaul as a graduate transfer from South Carolina.
"Chico brings a great skillset to our team next season," said head coach Tony Stubblefield. "He is a sharp-shooter who has a lot of experience and has played high-level basketball. We're excited to see him in action at Wintrust next season.
Carter Jr. started all 25 games for South Carolina, before missing the final seven with injury. The Columbia, S.C. native averaged 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 47.6 percent from three.
Prior to two seasons with the Gamecocks, Carter Jr. played two years at Murray State where he helped the Racers to a conference regular season championship in 2020, before the postseason was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout his college career, Carter Jr. has shot 44.1 percent from deep with 119 total made three's.
Carter Jr. played high school basketball at Cardinal Newman School where he averaged 24.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior and led Cardinal Newman to a state title. He finished his high school career with 1,868 points.
