Carroll Earns Back-to-Back Title, Track and Field Completes Day Two of BIG EAST Outdoor Championships

DePaul’s Success Continues in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA - DePaul track and field completed day two of the BIG EAST Championships. Tori Carroll remains the BIG EAST Outdoor Champion in the women's long jump after securing another first place finish for the second year in a row.
Day two of the outdoor championships kicked off in the field with the women's javelin throw. Charlotte Anderson took home second place after throwing a final distance of 46.29m, her best finish at a BIG EAST Championship meet.
Tori Carroll claimed DePaul's first gold medal of the day in the women's long jump. The BIG EAST Champion earned her back-to-back title landing at the 6.22m mark. Carroll joins six previous Blue Demons who have won two conference outdoor championships in the same events.
In the oval, running trials took place. A multitude of Blue Demons will participate in ten final events on Saturday after advancing with their qualifying times. DePaul will see action in the final rounds of the women's 1500, women's 100m hurdles, men and women's 400m, men and women's 100m, men's 800m, men's 400m hurdles and the men and women's 200m.
Darius Brown broke the program record in the men's 400m hurdles preliminary race with an impressive 51.10 time. His final time broke the DePaul program record that has stood for 37 years, since 1986.
The final events of the evening consisted of the men's 3,000m steeplechase and the men and women's 5,000m. In these final events, DePaul saw five student-athletes place within the top-15 finishers of each event.
UP NEXT: DePaul will continue action on Championship Saturday of the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship. The Blue Demons will begin their day at 10:30 a.m. CT with women's discus, men's shot put and women's triple jump.
