CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team continues to load up its roster, with the latest edition of former five-star recruit, Elijah Fisher. Fisher transfers to DePaul from Texas Tech where he played his freshman season after reclassifying to the class of 2022.
"Elijah has a tremendous amount of talent," said head coach Tony Stubblefield. "He played in an incredibly tough Big 12 conference at just 17 years old and is only beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. Elijah has a competitive spirit and plays to the very end and we're excited to see him in a DePaul jersey next season."
Fisher was a consensus five-star prospect in the class of 2023 and was ranked as the No. 15 player nationally by Rivals. After reclassifying and signing with the Red Raiders in May 2022, Fisher remained in the top-50 of the 2022 class. Fisher competed at the varsity level since sixth grade at Crestwood Academy in Toronto where he averaged 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and three steals per game in his junior season.
He also boasts an international resume playing with the Canadian National Team where he helped Canada win bronze at the FIBA U19 World Cup and won MVP honors at the BioSteel All-Canadian game in Toronto with a 28-point performance.
In his freshman season with Texas Tech, Fisher appeared in 28 games with one start. He scored a career-high eight points against a TCU squad who advanced to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 6 seed. Fisher pulled in a career-best nine rebounds in 22 minutes played at LSU. He ended the 2022-23 season a 44.9 field goal percentage shooting 35-of-78 from the floor.
