Men’s Tennis Falls to Purdue

DePaul overpowered in West Lafayette, 2-5
WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – DePaul men's tennis dropped its match on Friday evening against Purdue at the Schwartz Tennis Center, falling 2-5.
Matteo Iaquinto and Laurentiu Mandocescu found success at No. 3 to begin doubles, taking down Ekstrand/Ali-Khan, 6-4. However, the Boilermakers jumped out to an early start, claiming wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts and securing the first point of the night.
Purdue would continue its momentum into singles, taking three straight-set victories on the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 courts.
Once Purdue secured the victory with a win at No. 2, Leon Huck and Shourya Verma collected victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Huck bested his opponent in a second-set tiebreaker to win, 6-4, 7-6(3). Verma would do the same in a 10-point, third-set tiebreaker, taking down Daniel Labrador, 4-6, 7-5, 10-4.

The Blue Demons return home for a bout against BIG EAST opponent, Marquette, on Sunday, March 3. The match will take place at XS Tennis Village, with first serve set for 1:15 p.m. CT.
