Blue Demons fell to Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF. – DePaul men's tennis was defeated by Grand Canyon in a tightly contested match on Saturday afternoon, with the final score standing at 2-5.
The Blue Demons (6-8) began with two key wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to seize the early advantage.
Leon Huck and Sven Moser bested Rosati/Almasi at the No. 2 position, 6-3, while Laurentiu Mandocescu and Matteo Iaquinto took down Anderson/Da Silva in a 6-4 decision.
Early in singles, Iaquinto snagged a 6-2, 6-4 straight-set victory at No. 3, propelling the Blue Demons to a 2-1 lead.
Although Jona Gitschel claimed the first set in his match against Anderson at No. 6, he ultimately fell in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6.
With a win at the No. 4 spot, the Antelopes stole the victory, securing their third win of the season.
In a nail-biting conclusion, Huck narrowly dropped his third-set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(3), making the final score 5-2, in favor of Grand Canyon.
