Blue Demons Kick Off BIG EAST Championships

No. 2 DePaul opens its stay in Cayce, S.C. against No. 7 Villanova
CAYCE, S.C. – DePaul men's tennis hits the road for the BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, S.C. with the first round set to begin on Friday, April 19.
The No. 2 seed Blue Demons (11-9) begin the Quarterfinals Round against No. 7 seed Villanova (7-15), with first serve set for 8 a.m. CT on Friday morning at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.
DePaul closed out the dual season with five victories in its last six matches, including three wins over BIG EAST opponents including Georgetown, Butler, and Xavier. The impressive stretch of play included a notable 7-0 sweep over Butler at home on April 6.
Villanova concluded its regular season with three straight losses to Saint Joseph's, Georgetown, and George Mason. The Wildcats finished 1-3 in BIG EAST play, with a victory over Marquette in a 4-3 decision.
The 'Band of Brothers' last clashed with Villanova (7-15) on April, 7, 2023, in Chicago, Ill. The Blue Demons dominated in a 6-1 decision, extending their winning streak against the Wildcats to four matches since 2013.
Matteo Iaquinto, Leon Huck, Jona Gitschel, and Vito Tonejc were integral in clinching points for DePaul during the 2021 and 2022 BIG EAST Championship titles, each playing pivotal roles.
