Anderson Crowned Champion, Borowiak Breaks School Record

The Blue Demons prepare for day three of the Championships
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field closed out day two of the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships Friday evening. Charlotte Anderson earned her first-ever BIG EAST title while Olivia Borowiak broke her previous school record in the women's 5000m.
Anderson was crowned DePaul's sole BIG EAST Champion of the day after dominating the women's javelin throw. The Blue Demon won her first BIG EAST title with a final mark of 45.05.
Borowiak took home silver in the women's 5000m after running a record time of 15:55.46. In the women's long jump finals, Jaiah Hopf also placed second overall with a final mark of 5.92m.
Tomorrow, 10 different athletes are set to compete in their designated finals. Meghan Dieball and Madison Volz qualified for the women's 1500m finals after achieving times of 4:27.42 and 4:31.73 respectively. This is Volz's first BIG EAST final and Dieball's fourth consecutive final in the 1500.
In the women's 400m, Claire Dunn and Kayliah Motes made it to the championship round after running times of 55.16 and 56.29 respectively. On the men's side, both Jarel Terry and Daniel Fasasi qualified for the final race, after achieving times of 47.64 and 47.74 in today's prelims.
Jetta Mays qualified for both the 100m and 200m finals. In the 100m, the Blue Demon placed fourth overall with a final time of 11.99 and in the 200m, J. Mays took first, with a time of 24.20. Dunn also qualified for the final round of the women's 200m with a time of 24.44.
Both Dominic Cole and Cameron Attucks made it to the finals in the men's 100m, finishing in fifth and sixth place respectively. Cole also qualified for the men's 200 race after running a time of 21.72.
Alyssa Leak qualified for the women's 400m hurdle finals after achieving a time of 1:03.99 and Darius Brown qualified for the event on the men's side after running a time of 53.60.
