CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball has officially announced its 2024-25 non-conference schedule for head coach Chris Holtmann's debut season at the helm of the program. The non-conference slate features three games against 2023 NCAA Tournament teams, including two in Northwestern and Duquesne who advanced past the first round. Conference games in addition to television designations and tip times will be announced at a later date.
DePaul enters the 2024-25 season with a fresh look including the arrival of Holtmann and six new members of the coaching staff. The Blue Demons brought in 13 new players in the offseason, one of six programs nationwide to not return any minutes from the previous year.
Blue Demon fans will have a chance to catch their first look of the DePaul team on Oct. 27 in a preseason home exhibition game against Illinois Wesleyan.
The new era officially kicks off on Nov. 4 with a season-opening matchup against Southern Indiana inside Wintrust Arena. Following the season opener, DePaul will host Prairie View A&M, Mercer and Duquesne on Nov. 7, Nov. 11 and Nov. 15, respectively. Mercer ended the 2023-24 season winning six of their last eight games while Duquesne is coming off a standout year where they recorded a 25-12 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating BYU.
DePaul closes out the month of November hosting the DePaul Classic with a trio of Illinois and Indiana opponents as a part of a multi-team event (MTE). The event begins with DePaul hosting Eastern Illinois on Nov. 19 followed by Northern Illinois on Nov. 23 and Valparaiso on Nov. 29.
The Blue Demons leave the state of Illinois for the only time in the non-conference schedule for the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle where DePaul will face off against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders went 23-11 last season, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six tournaments held. DePaul returns to Wintrust Arena to host Wichita State on Dec. 14 before making the short trip up north to Evanston for a matchup against Northwestern on Dec. 21.
