Blue Demons held scoreless in Big Ten battle
MADISON, Wis. – DePaul men's tennis showcased resilience despite the result, pushing three singles matches to decisive third sets before falling to Wisconsin, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Facing Wisconsin (1-0) for the first time since earning a memorable victory over the Badgers in 2024, DePaul (0-1) demonstrated grit and determination in a hard-fought match.
Redshirt-freshman Thomas Giles and sophomore transfer Quang Vinh Nguyen made strong debuts for DePaul, pairing up to secure a win on the No. 3 doubles court. Wisconsin responded with victories at No. 1 and 2 doubles to take the opening point of the match.
In singles play, the Blue Demons fought until the very end. Newcomers Andy Hadziabdic and Tobias Leitner delivered second-set tiebreak victories after dropping their opening sets, but both ultimately fell in the third. Pablo Torres Almeida followed a similar path, battling through three sets but coming up just short.
