CJ Gunn Named Preseason All-BIG EAST

Gunn first Blue Demon to receive preseason honors since 2020
NEW YORK – DePaul men's basketball senior guard CJ Gunn earned Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team honors, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. He becomes the first Blue Demon to earn preseason All-Conference honors since Charlie Moore in 2020.
Gunn returns as DePaul's leading scorer from the 2024-25 season after averaging 12.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor. He also led the team in steals with 43 on the season while totallng 21 games across the season in double-digit scoring. His scoring and rebounding average increased last season against BIG EAST opponents to 13.7 and 4.7, respectively.
After missing the first two games of the season due to injury, Gunn appeared in all 32 remaining games with a total of 21 starts. He had a career-high 23 points off the bench at Providence on 8-of-13 shooting with seven rebounds and three assists. A consistent scoring threat, Gunn scored in double-digits in 18 of his last 19 games last season.
Gunn made his debut at the BIG EAST Tournament where he averaged 12.5 points across DePaul's two games, including a 14-point performance in a double-digit overtime game against Creighton. Against the Bluejays, Gunn set the DePaul BIG EAST Tournament record with six steals.
With the return of Gunn, DePaul is the only team in the BIG EAST to return its leading scorer from a year ago. The Blue Demons officially open their 2025-26 season Nov. 3 against Chicago State. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip from Wintrust Arena on ESPN+.
