Amoo-Mensah nets first goal of his career in outing

CINCINNATI – DePaul men's soccer closed its 2025 campaign on a high note Friday night, earning a 1-1 draw against Xavier at Corcoran Field. The Blue Demons battled from behind, dictated the tempo for much of the match.

DePaul generated sustained attacking pressure and outshot the Musketeers 19-12, including an 11-4 edge in shots on goal. The Blue Demons' front line consistently challenged the Xavier back line, while the midfield and defense combined to stifle the Musketeers' transition play.

Senior Tyson Amoo-Mensah provided the highlight of the night, scoring the first goal of his career late in the opening half to bring the Blue Demons level. Meanwhile, veterans Ethan Gordon and Christian Baumgartner anchored the back line with composed performances, and goalkeeper Clayton Brooks stood tall with three saves over 90 minutes.

The result capped an encouraging finish for DePaul which closed the year 2-8-7 overall and 0-6-2 in BIG EAST play

The draw marked the final match for DePaul's senior class, who leave a lasting impact on the program.

How It Happened
The Blue Demons came out on the front foot, generating a quality look in the 16th minute as Gordon got his foot on the ball at the far post off a corner kick from Joon Han, but his effort drifted just wide.

Xavier opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Cristiano Fitzgerald played a pass through to Gun Ha Lee, who finished from close range to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

DePaul responded just nine minutes later. In the 40th minute, Amoo-Mensah pounced on a loose ball in the box and slotted home his first career goal to tie the match at 1-1.

The Blue Demons nearly took the lead moments later, with Baumgartner and Gordon each forcing saves from inside the six-yard box following a long throw-in sequence.

DePaul continued to dictate play after the break, outshooting Xavier 12-5 in the second half and forcing goalkeeper Jonny Mennell into eight saves. Hernandez and Waski were active throughout the final frame, each registering multiple shots on target as the Blue Demons pushed for a late winner.
