Goncharov and Smith Earn BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week Award

Blue Demons bring home honors in back-to-back weeks
CHICAGO – No. 1 doubles senior Eva Goncharov and junior Hannah Smith earned the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week award on Monday afternoon after securing victories at Drake and Iowa.
Goncharov and Smith persevered, beating Tess Caldicott and Elizabete Klavinska, 7-5, after trailing the match 0-2 on Friday. The pair led the way to a 6-1 victory over the Bulldogs at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Two days later in Iowa City, the duo defeated the Hawkeyes' Tereza Dejnozkova and Barbora Pokorna, 6-4 on court one, helping collect the doubles point. DePaul has won the doubles point in five of its seven matches this season.
UP NEXT
DePaul travels to the Hoosier State, taking on Purdue and Tulsa next week. The Blue Demons battle the Boilermakers on Friday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. CT while the contest with the Golden Hurricanes begins Saturday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. CT. The Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Indiana, will host both matchups.
