Kash Allen and Alex Bernstein Highlight Day One at UCF

Veteran throwers place second in respective events
ORLANDO, Fla. – DePaul track and field concluded its first day of the outdoor season on Friday, highlighted by a pair of impressive second-place finishes from Kash Allen and Alex Bernstein in separate throwing events. Nine athletes competed for the Blue Demons on day one of the Black & Gold UCF Invitational, hosted at Central Florida's Track & Field Complex in Orlando, with most participating in field events, including the hammer throw, long jump, and shot put, as well as the 200m dash.
In the women's field events, Kash Allen led the way in the shot put with a second-place finish behind a mark of 15.60m. Jessica Beckman also contributed in the circle, placing 14th with a throw of 12.64m. The pair returned in the hammer throw, where Beckman took 18th (43.04m) and Allen followed in 24th (39.34m). Jaiah Hopf added an eighth-place result in the long jump, reaching 5.99m.
Meanwhile, in the men's field events, Alex Bernstein opened his outdoor season with a strong runner-up finish in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 63.81m. Jaiden Gary continued the group's momentum in the shot put, placing fourth overall with a throw of 17.15m.
On the track, Alyssa Leak represented DePaul in the women's 200m and crossed the line in 25.97.
To close out the day, the Blue Demons had three entries in the men's 200m dash. Dominic Cole led the trio with a time of 21.53 for 25th place, followed by Demetrius Rolle in 41st (21.82) and Charles Lewis in 47th (21.93).
