Two-time All-American set to compete in second straight NCAA Indoor Championships
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field's Darius Brown has qualified for the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships, set for March 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Va., the committee announced Tuesday evening. The championships, hosted by Norfolk State University, will take place at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Brown's qualifying time of 7.61 in the men's 60m hurdles was first achieved at the Notre Dame Invitational on Jan. 25 and matched again on March 1 at the 2025 BIG EAST Championships, where he claimed gold and set a BIG EAST Indoor Championship record. The performance solidified his personal and school record, surpassing his previous best of 7.63. His time ranked 14th nationally, securing his spot in the NCAA Indoor National Championships after a tiebreaker with two other student-athletes.
This marks Brown's second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships, following a stellar 2024 performance, where he finished seventh in the nation in the 60m hurdles, earning First Team All-American honors. His 7.63 time in the semifinal round last year secured the fifth-fastest qualifying spot, making him DePaul track and field's 12th All-American.
To qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, student-athletes must rank among the top 16 performers in their respective individual events based on the descending order list for the current indoor season. This list is compiled using results from officially submitted meets throughout the season, highlighting the top athletes competing at the Division I level. In the event of a tie for the 16th and final qualifying spot, the second-best performance mark is used as a tiebreaker, followed by subsequent marks if necessary.
Brown will compete in the men's 60m hurdles at the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. CT in the semifinal round. Should he advance, he will race in the final on Saturday, March 15, at 5:40 p.m. CT. The championships will be broadcast on ESPN+, with a re-air scheduled on ESPNU at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 16.
