Freshman Dominic Lucchesi tallies a 12th place individual finish
OKATIE, S.C. – DePaul golf had a stellar round three to close out the BIG EAST Golf Championships Monday afternoon with the best under-par score in the conference tournament in program history. The Blue Demons finished the event with a score of 875 (+11), three strokes behind a tie for fourth-place. The sixth-place finish is the team's best placement since the 2020-21 Championship, while the program also had four golfers in the top-30 for the first time since 2018-19.
Freshman Dominic Lucchesi led DePaul through the event for a 12th place finish, the third-highest of any freshman in the field. Lucchesi's score of 216 (E) marked Artemiy Yalovenko's third place finishing score from last season. The 216 is tied for the third-best individual round of 54 by a DePaul golfer in the BIG EAST Tournament. His third and final round was highlighted by three birdies on Monday afternoon.
Pablo Riveiro also finished his day under par with a 71 (-1) while making three birdies on the back nine. Tied for 16th overall, Riveiro improved his third-round score by three strokes from Sunday to finish with a total score of 218 (+2).
Rohan Gopaldas closed his first BIG EAST Tournament with a 73 to place 23rd overall at 220 (+4). Ryder Henares matched his performance from Saturday with an even-par score of 72 (E). Henares started strong with an eagle on the 11th hole on his way to a 26th place finish with a 221 (+5) overall.
Monday's event also marks the conclusion of head coach Marty Schiene's final season as the program's head coach.
