Former DePaul guard Lexi Held was named to the Phoenix Mercury's opening day roster ahead of the 2025 WNBA season, the organization announced on Thursday evening. The Mercury tipoff their 29th season on Saturday, May 17 when they host the Seattle Storm at 9 p.m. CT.
Â
Held, a four-year letterwinner from 2018-2022, is the 10th Blue Demon to make an active WNBA roster and first since Allie Quigley played her final season with the Chicago Sky in 2022.
Â
Following her collegiate career, Held has gone on to have a successful professional career overseas with stops in Australia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Sweden before landing in Phoenix on a training camp contract.
Â
In her preseason debut against the Las Vegas Aces on May 6, Held saw 10 minutes of action off the bench and netted three points to go along with a pair of rebounds.
Â
Held is one of 18 former BIG EAST student-athletes to make a WNBA roster this spring. DePaul is one of four conference institutions to have representation in both the NBA and WNBA joining Connecticut, Marquette, and Villanova.
Â
While at DePaul, Held made 89 starts and 121 appearances in four seasons and was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection while landing on the All-Freshman Team in 2019. The Burlington, Ky. native ranks 16th on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,592 points in her career. Held remains in the top five in career three-pointers made (238) and attempted (651). She helped the Blue Demons to a pair of BIG EAST Championships in 2019 and 2020 and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Performer as a sophomore. In 2021, Held was selected the BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Â
Held graduated from DePaul's Driehaus College of Business in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.Â
