Blue Demons recognized with team and individual academic awards
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis was named an ITA All-Academic Team for 2025, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced early last week. In addition, eight Blue Demons earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
To qualify as an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must post a team grade-point average of 3.2 or higher. DePaul surpassed that benchmark with a standout 3.74 GPA for the 2024–25 academic year, highlighting the program's strong commitment to continued academic excellence.
Andy Hadziabdic, Pablo Torres Almeida, Matteo Iaquinto, Thomas Giles, Elias Anwar, Jona Gitschel, Tobias Leitner, and Sven Moser each posted at least a 3.5 GPA to earn individual Scholar-Athlete distinction.
This academic recognition adds to a standout campaign that saw DePaul crack the ITA Division I team rankings for the first time since 2015. Hadziabdic was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, while Iaquinto earned unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team honors.
Head coach Matt Brothers has guided DePaul to ITA All-Academic Team status in 17 of his 18 seasons, a testament to the program's sustained excellence on and off the court.
In 2025, a total of 994 Division I men's tennis student-athletes received Scholar-Athlete honors, while 159 programs were recognized as ITA All-Academic Teams.
