Two Blue Demons Make Cut at Illinois Open

LONG GROVE, ILL. – Two current Blue Demon golfers, Billy Gneiser and Dominic Lucchesi, made the cut at the 76th Illinois Open Championship Tuesday afternoon. The event, held at Kemper Lakes Golf Club, will conclude Wednesday with a final round that tees off at 7:30 a.m.
Gneiser, competing in his fourth Illinois Open, sits in a tie for ninth place, making him the highest ranked amateur in the event. Gneiser golfed a 147 (+3) through the first two rounds, including a 73 (+1) in the second.
Lucchesi rose to a tie in 32nd after a strong second round where he golfed a 74 (+2) with a total of 15 pars on the day. His 152 (+8) ranks seventh among amateurs and makes him the second-youngest competitor to make the cut.
Additionally, Noah Kolar, a 2024 graduate of DePaul, competed in his first Illinois Open. Kolar barely missed the cut with a 158 (+14).
