Tessa Roe Takes Home BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO – DePaul cross country student-athlete Tessa Roe was named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. This marks the first weekly award of Roe's young DePaul career.
Roe was recognized as Co-Female Athlete of the Week alongside Gabby Schmidt, a Providence sophomore who won the women's 4k at the Friar Invitational.
At the Huskie Opener in DeKalb on Friday, Sept. 5, Roe took first place with a time of 17:55.26 in the women's 5k race. In a field of 47 runners and seven schools, Roe finished 20 seconds faster than the next closest competitor.
The Portland, Mich., native improved her time from last year's Huskie Opener by nearly 30 seconds, earning a personal best in the women's 5k.
