DePaul Faces Xavier on the Road

CINCINNATI – DePaul men's basketball looks to bounce back on the road Saturday, Jan. 31 against Xavier. The Blue Demons and Musketeers tip off at 12 p.m. CT On FS1 with Jack Kizer and Nick Bahe on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on SiriusXM and the Depaul Blue Demons app.
DePaul (12-9, 4-6 BIG EAST) faces its second-straight road contest, looking for its first BIG EAST road win of the season and to surpass last year's conference win total.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite a season-high 19-point performance off the bench from Brandon Maclin, DePaul couldn't complete a late comeback Wednesday at Georgetown. The Blue Demons fell 70-61 to the Hoyas despite shooting 50 percent from three-point range in the second half.
DePaul's defense has held BIG EAST opponents to 43.1 percent shooting from the field, ranking third in the league behind only UConn and Seton Hall.
THE SERIES
Xavier leads the all-time series 23-13, including an 11-4 advantage in Cincinnati. The Blue Demons are seeking their first win at Cintas Center since 2022.
DePaul won the earlier meeting this season, 86-77, at Wintrust Arena. CJ Gunn scored a game-high 22 points while six Blue Demons reached double figures for the first time in five seasons.
SCOUTING XAVIER
Xavier (11-10, 3-7 BIG EAST) has dropped three straight since a home victory against Butler on Jan. 14. The Musketeers fell 86-68 at seton Hall on Wednesday but have posted a strong 9-4 record at home this season.
Tre Carroll leads the BIG EAST with 18.2 points per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field. The graduate student also ranks among the league leaders with 1.3 blocks per game. Filip Borovicanin averages a team-best 8.0 rebounds per contest.
As a team, Xavier ranks seventh nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.85) and averages 18.7 assists per game, both marks leading the BIG EAST.
UP NEXT
DePaul returns home for a midweek contest against St. John's, Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. on Peacock. The Blue Demons will retire Rod Strickland's jersey at halftime, while fans are encouraged to arrive early for a pregame performance of Red Panda.
