NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference will partner with Invesco QQQ and DePaul to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The DePaul women's basketball team will host #1 UConn at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. TruTV will broadcast the matchup with J.B. Long and Candace Parker on the call.
"The BIG EAST is proud to join our host DePaul in celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day and spotlighting the many important roles women play in the sports world," said BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman. "We are especially grateful to TNT Sports and Invesco QQQ for their shared commitment to advancing the continued growth of women in sports and for their outstanding support of the BIG EAST and our schools."
The Department of Athletics will host an NGWSD kickoff breakfast on its Lincoln Park campus on Thursday morning for DePaul student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
The Blue Demons will host a networking social prior to the game. The social will take place for an hour starting at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT in the Blue Demon Club, bringing together women from across the sports industry for an evening focused on celebration, connection, and empowerment. The social is open to those working in or aspiring to have careers in the sports industry. The event will provide an opportunity to network with peers, share experiences, and recognize the impact of women in athletics at all levels. A valid game ticket is required for entry to the networking social.
Before the tip, fans can also enjoy a live fireside chat featuring BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman, who will discuss the rise of women's athletics.
DePaul women's teams will be on the concourse to interact with fans and sign autographs before the game, in addition to being highlighted on the court for fan t-shirt tosses.
"National Girls & Women in Sports Day is a powerful reminder of the impact women have had on athletics, leadership, and society," said DeWayne Peevy, DePaul Vice President and Director of Athletics. "At DePaul, we are proud to celebrate the trailblazers who paved the way and to invest in the next generation of women who compete, lead, and inspire. We are equally proud to participate in the Female Forward Broadcast. Hosting a nationally televised game against UConn at Wintrust Arena on this day is a meaningful opportunity to showcase the excellence of women's basketball and to reaffirm our commitment to equity, opportunity, and empowerment through sport."
In addition to serving as the presenting sponsor of this year's broadcast, Invesco QQQ is also the title sponsor of the 2026 BIG EAST Women's Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced before the BIG EAST Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena.
