CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer fell 4-0 to Marquette in BIG EAST play Saturday afternoon in front of a season-high crowd of 1,068 at Wish Field.

Senior midfielder Noeh Hernandez led DePaul with three shots, Jordan Clagette added two, and Tyler Flowers and Daniel Hickiewicz each put a shot on frame. Chance Johnson made five saves in goal, and the Blue Demons matched the Golden Eagles with six corner kicks.

How It Happened
The Blue Demons opened the match with strong energy, making dangerous runs centrally but unable to connect on a shot that tested the Marquette goalkeeper.

The Golden Eagles built up to the first goal of the match, connecting passes before Antonio Costabile sent the ball across for a touch from Tomiwa Adewumi on to Mads Konrad Horgoien, who finished to put the visitors up 1-0 in the 19th minute.

It wasn't long before Marquette doubled its lead in the 25th minute, getting deep into the attacking third before switching the field for an acrobatic far-post finish from Gabriel Watkins to make it 2-0.

Hernandez had DePaul's best chance of the first half in the 38th minute, striking the ball with pace from 30 yards out and forcing a leaping save from Marquette goalkeeper Cameron Simpson.

Shots were even 7-7 at the break.

Marquette didn't take long to add to its lead after halftime, winning possession on a DePaul restart and slotting in at the far post for Konrad Horgoien's second goal of the match and a 3-0 advantage in the 46th minute.

DePaul's best chance of the second half came in the 76th minute as Liam Mullins threatened from the doorstep, with his shot from 6 yards out hitting the post before Kai Jorgenson's rebound attempt went off target.

Aiden Goldberg capped the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the 80th minute, finishing a feed from Dominic Firs for the 4-0 final.
