"We are thrilled to bring a championship-caliber atmosphere to Wintrust Arena for this historic meeting with Nebraska," said head coach Marie Zidek. "This is more than just a match – it is a showcase for our program and the Chicago volleyball community. This event is a bold realization of our joint DREAM BIG plan and reflects the trajectory of our vision for this program. I am incredibly grateful to our Athletic Director, DeWayne, and the DePaul administration for providing this elite experience for our student-athletes, and we look forward to representing the Blue Demons with pride."
DePaul volleyball has established itself as a perennial competitor in the BIG EAST Conference, advancing to the league tournament in three of the last five seasons. Under the direction of head coach Marie Zidek, the Blue Demons have produced 13 all-conference selections and two individual conference award winners in the last seven seasons. Zidek and the Blue Demons coaching staff were recognized as the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021.
Nebraska volleyball stands as one of the nation's premier women's volleyball programs, boasting five national championships, 18 Final Four appearances – including trips in 2023 and 2024 – and 36 conference championships, including the 2025 Big Ten Championship.
"Hosting Nebraska at Wintrust Arena is exactly the kind of bold, program-defining moment we envisioned when we laid out our DREAM BIG strategic plan for DePaul Athletics," said Senior Vice President and Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy. "Bringing one of the most decorated programs in the history of women's volleyball to the South Loop – in the first-ever volleyball match at Wintrust Arena – sends a clear message about our program's direction and our commitment to the continued national growth of the DePaul brand. Marie and her staff have built something special, and we are committed to giving our student-athletes and Chicago fans an experience that matches their ambition."
The 10,387-seat Wintrust Arena is near McCormick Place in the South Loop. Home to DePaul men's and women's basketball, the facility features state-of-the-art amenities for fans and athletes alike, including more than 400 club seats and 22 luxury suites.
