DePaul will recognize four seniors in final home game
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball closes out its regular season slate with a home game Saturday, March 7, against Butler. The game tips at 11 a.m. on FS1 with Jason Ross Jr. and Jordan Taylor. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on Sirius XM and the DePaul Blue Demons app.
The Blue Demons will honor four seniors pregame – Kaleb Banks, NJ Benson, CJ Gunn and Brandon Maclin.
DePaul (16-14, 8-11 BIG EAST) has a chance to tie the program's BIG EAST record for conference wins, as well as secure the fifth seed at next week's BIG EAST Tournament. A fifth seed would give DePaul a first-round bye for the first time in program history, and its highest seed in a conference tournament since 2005.
Maclin has led DePaul in scoring in the Blue Demons last three games – including a 21 point performance on the road at Creighton. As a team, DePaul has held opponents to 69.4 points per game this season – a mark that ranks as the third best scoring defense in the BIG EAST. The Blue Demons are 10-0 on the season when holding its opponent under 65 points.
Butler (15-15, 6-13 BIG EAST) enters Saturday's contest following back-to-back losses against Villanova and Creighton. The Bulldogs have been led this season by Finley Bizjack with a team-high 17.0 points per game on 34.4 percent from three-point range. Michael Ajayi averages 16.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, leading the league with 17 double-doubles this season. As a team, the Bulldogs rank second in the BIG EAST with an average of 18 free throws made per game.
The two teams met back on Jan. 20 where Butler held on for an 87-80 win, despite a season-high 20 points from Layden Blocker. DePaul looks for its first victory over the Bulldogs since 2020.
