Blue Demons sign experienced all-conference guard
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball has signed an experienced all-conference guard in Kahmare Holmes for the 2026-27 season. Holmes averaged 19.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore for Wofford this past season, earning First Team All-SoCon honors as the league's third-leading scorer.
"We are excited to welcome Kahmare to Chicago and the DePaul basketball family," said head coach Chris Holtmann. "He has shown his growth and development in two seasons at Wofford and we believe his competitiveness and skill set will translate well as he steps into the BIG EAST and contributes to what we are building here."
A 6-3, Charlotte, N.C. native, Holmes led the SoCon and ranked among the top 30 nationally with over two steals per game, while shooting 35.2 percent from three-point range. He scored in double figures in 24 of his 26 games played and recorded 15 games of 20 or more points. Holmes posted a career-high 36 points against Samford, going 14-of-18 from the free throw line.
He appeared in 28 games as a true freshman for Wofford, averaging 4.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game with three double-figure scoring games. Prior to college, Holmes was an All-Region player at Archer High School and led his team to a 21-9 record.
