Former Blue Demon goalkeeper selected as one of six first-time All-Stars in league history
CHICAGO — Brian Schwake, a former DePaul men's soccer goalkeeper, has been named to the Starting XI of the 2026 MLS All-Star Game presented by Chime, Major League Soccer announced Friday. Schwake, who plays for Nashville SC, was selected through a combined vote of MLS fans, players and media members.
A Mt. Prospect, Ill. native, Schwake spent his freshman year at DePaul in 2019, training under then-starter Drew Nuelle before an injury cut short his collegiate career. He appeared in a preseason exhibition against Detroit, recording five saves, before departing for Europe in 2020 to sign with Livingston FC in the Scottish Premiership.
He went on to make appearances for Linlithgow Rose FC and Edinburgh City before a stint with Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship, where he posted 43 appearances and 12 clean sheets. Schwake then moved to Spain's LaLiga2 with CD Castellón before Nashville SC signed him in January 2025.
The 2026 MLS All-Star Game will be played Wednesday, July 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., where MLS All-Stars will face a squad of LIGA MX All-Stars. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on Apple TV.
