DePaul Returns to Action at National Catholic Championships

CHICAGO – DePaul cross country returns to action Friday, Sept. 18, traveling to South Bend, Ind., for the 47th annual National Catholic Championships. The women's 5K is set for 10 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 8K at 10:40 a.m. CT.

The Blue Demons opened their 2026 campaign at the Huskie Opener on Sept. 4, highlighted by individual victories from senior Kalina Urbaniak in the 5K (18:06.4) and freshman Alex Krieg in the 6K (19:00.13), along with a team title for the DePaul men.

Friday's meet will see the men's squad move up to 8,000m after opening the campaign over 6,000m in DeKalb. The women will compete in their second 5K of the season.

DePaul returns to familiar territory after collecting a pair of top-four team finishes at the 2025 National Catholic Championships. The women placed third overall, improving two spots from their 2024 finish, while the men took fourth.

Several Blue Demons return with experience on the Burke Golf Course, including Urbaniak, Vivian Wyller and Isabella Orozco on the women's side and Mason Krieg, Cole Tupper and Daniel Grauer for the men.

The National Catholic Championships field features 17 programs, including Detroit Mercy, Canisius, Duquesne, Lewis, Niagara and host Notre Dame.

UP NEXT
The Blue Demons return to Chicago for their next race Friday, Sept. 25, at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. The meet will also serve as DePaul's SAAC game.
