Brandon Bailey
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
DePaul men's basketball head coach Chris Holtmann officially added Brandon Bailey to his coaching staff as an assistant coach in April 2024. Bailey, a 2009 graduate of DePaul, returned to Lincoln Park after most recently serving on the coaching staff with Holtmann at Ohio State.Â
"Brandon had 13 years of NBA experience before I hired him last year and his experience teaching defense at that level proved valuable," said Holtmann. "He is detailed and thorough in his teaching. Brandon is also a DePaul grad and his love for this University is an added plus. We are excited to welcome Brandon, his wife Julie and their entire family."
Bailey helped make an immediate impact with DePaul in the first season as the Blue Demons saw the greatest improvement nationally in KenPom ratings and an 11-win increase from the previous year.Â
Before his time in Columbus, Bailey spent 10 years in the Boston Celtics organization, first joining the organization in 2011 as a video coordinator. He spent the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons as the head coach of the Maine Red Claws, the organizations G League affiliate. In 2019, Bailey joined Brad Stevens' staff as an assistant coach for the Celtics, a position he held for two seasons before working with Team USA as an assistant coach in 2021-22.
Bailey began his career as a manager under Doug Bruno with the Blue Demons women's basketball team, before working as a graduate assistant and director of operations with the men's basketball program from 2009-11.
Bailey is a Chicago native, where he attended St. Patrick High School before graduating from DePaul in 2009 with a sociology degree.
