Harvey spent five years as the associate head coach at Missouri from 1999-04, under head coach Quin Snyder. He helped bring in six recruiting classes that were each ranked in the top-10 nationally, while helping the Tigers reach the NCAA Tournament four consecutive years. Harvey helped Mizzou to the 2002 Elite Eight as a 12-seed. The Tigers had a winning season in each of the five years he was on staff, including three with 20 or more wins.
In 2008, Harvey was named head coach at Texas Southern where he led the Tigers to the 2010 SWAC Championship game and the program's first winning season in seven years. His team's relentless defense was fourth in the nation in steals per game at 10.3. Texas Southern posted the 12th best turnaround in the county in 2009-10 under Harvey, improving from a 7-25 record in 2008-09 to 17 wins in 2009-10. Harvey went on to lead the Tigers to their first 20-win season in 15 years in 2010-11 while being named SWAC Coach of the Year and earning an NIT bid, the program's first postseason appearance since 2003.
Most recently, Harvey spent a season at Eastern Michigan and UIC as an assistant coach. While at EMU, the Eagles defense led the MAC in steals per game and turnovers forced while ranking 13th and 47th nationally, respectively. In three seasons at UIC, Harvey helped lead the Flames to their first 20-win season since 2004 and a trip to the CIT championship game. The Flames averaged 18 wins a season with Harvey on staff.
In Harvey's first stint at Eastern Michigan, the Eagles posted two 20-win seasons, the 1998 MAC Championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance.
A native of South Bend, Ind., Harvey received a bachelor's degree in health/physical education from Cameron University.
