Stephanie Williams first joined the DePaul Track & Field program in 2009 and was named an assistant coach in July 2014. Williams is primarily responsbile for sprinters and hurdlers, helping both to BIG EAST and NCAA success.
Williams led St. Charles, Ill. native, Kyle Decker to hurdle dominance during his four-year stint as a Blue Demon. Decker won seven BIG EAST championship titles (Four- 60MH / Three-110MH). In February 2019, Decker became the eight male athlete in BIG EAST history to win four straight BIG EAST Indoor Championship titles in the same event, the first since 1997 and for the Blue Demons. Ashton Colaire would keep the 60-meter hurdle winning streak alive by earning the hurdle crown at the 2020 BIG EAST Indoor Conference Championships.
Evanston Township High School graduate and BIG EAST standout, Alexia Brooks also solidified the women’s Blue Demon hurdle under Williams' guidance. Brooks became a two-time BIG EAST 60MH/100MH champion (2018, 2019) and repeat NCAA West performer in the 100m hurdles in the 100MH (2018, 2019).
Most recently in the sprints, the 2020 indoor campaign saw the men’s 60-meter dash school record broken several times by teammates, Adam Nelson and Kyle Mastrangeli. After a standout senior season, Kyle Mastrangeli would own the current record of 6.75 seconds.
Previously, Williams coached standout Tayler Whittler to BIG EAST Championship titles in the 60m, 100m and 200m dashes. In both the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Whittler went on to compete at the NCAA West preliminaries in the 100m and 200m dashes.
Prior to joining the staff Williams spent four years as a student-athlete at DePaul where she set five sprint and relay school-records while tallying numerous BIG EAST Conference qualification marks. As a senior, she was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2009 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, where she placed fourth in the 200-meter dash. The same year, Williams set indoor records in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Williams began her coaching career as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Blue Demons (2009-2011) where she served as the academic liaison amongst other day-to-day operations.
The Chicago native and Lane Tech High School graduate obtained her status as a “Double Demon” after earning both her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Communications from DePaul (’09, ’11).
