James Murphy

James “Jim” Murphy was a standout guard for DePaul University from 1962 to 1965, where he became one of the leading scorers and helped define an era of Blue Demon basketball. Standing 6'2" and weighing 180 lb, Murphy combined size and skill to average nearly 15 points per game in his collegiate career. After graduating, he was selected by the Baltimore Bullets in the 1965 NBA Draft (8th round, 67th overall). In recognition of his contributions on the court and his lasting legacy, Murphy was inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984. Born in Chicago on August 23, 1943, he passed away on November 27, 2018, leaving behind a proud legacy in DePaul basketball history.
