CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the visiting Charlotte 49ers on Sunday afternoon at Wish Field. Ogonnaya Dotson-Newman tied the game with her fourth goal of the season at 17:24, but three second-half goals by Charlotte put the 49ers over the top.
Charlotte’s Jennie Leeder scored the game’s first goal in the 10th minute. She took a pass from Lindsay Duncan and put it past DePaul goalkeeper Lauren Geiger.
Dotson-Newman knotted up the game in the 18th minute after she took a feed from Courtney Hannel and shot it past Charlotte’s Jennifer Howell.
The game stayed at 1-1 until Dawn Geyer scored the first of her two goals at 72:14. Charlotte struck again just over six minutes later when Abbie Allison found the net at 78:38. Geyer’s second goal at 83:46 provided the final tally in the match.
With the loss, DePaul drops to 5-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in Conference USA play. The Blue Demons will go on the road the next two weekends. On Oct. 19, the Blue Demons play at Louisville and face Cincinnati on Oct. 21.
