Bruno Signs Extension

CHICAGO -- DePaul women's basketball coach Doug Bruno has signed a four-year contract extension it was announced today by Blue Demon Athletic Director Bill Bradshaw.
"We are very pleased with the job Doug has done with the women's basketball program both on and off the court," Bradshaw said. "Doug is a tremendous representative of DePaul University and we are extremely happy to know he will be guiding the women's basketball team for years to come."
Bruno is entering his 16th season as the head coach of the Blue Demons and he has compiled a record of 262-174. He has led the Blue Demons to seven 20-win seasons, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, three WNIT berths, four conference regular season championships and three league tournament titles. Off the court, the Blue Demons have boasted 37 players who have earned mention on the conference all-academic team. In addition, Bruno's 2000-01 squad produced the 13th-highest team GPA among NCAA Division I women's teams and the Blue Demons have won two of the last four Conference USA Academic Championships.
Last season, DePaul finished 18-12 and advanced to the second round of the WNIT for the second consecutive season.
The Blue Demons will open the 2001-02 season with an exhibition game against the Chicago Challengers on November 4 at 4:00 p.m. at the DePaul Athletic Center. The regular season opens on Friday-Saturday, November 16-17 with the annual Moran Realty Classic at DePaul.
