Crosstown foes tip off at 7 p.m. at McGrath-Phillips Arena

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball hosts crosstown foe UIC on Friday, Oct. 16 in its lone public exhibition of the preseason. Tipoff from McGrath-Phillips Arena is set for 7 p.m. and caps Blue Madness, DePaul's annual preseason basketball event. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is free.

The contest will not be streamed, but live stats are available here.

Friday opens year two under head coach Jill M. Pizzotti, who enters her 16th season at DePaul. The Blue Demons welcome back four returners from last season's 8-24 squad, highlighted by sharpshooting fifth-year guard Kate Clarke. The Carmel, Ind., native missed the entire 2025-26 campaign due to injury and will be a focal point of the DePaul offense after averaging 10.4 points per game and shooting 36.6 percent from 3-point range in 43 appearances as a Blue Demon. Joining Clarke in the returning core are deep threats in second-year guard Gina Davorija and third-year guard Ally Timm, while Devin Hagemann is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL. Pizzotti and her staff added eight newcomers in the offseason: six transfers, an international signee and a true first-year.

Look for first-year point guard Mikaia Litza to make a difference in the backcourt after a standout career at Wauwatosa East, where she was a Miss Wisconsin Basketball finalist and led the Red Raiders to a state title. DePaul's latest signee, fourth-year guard Ofek Talker of Gan Yavne, Israel, bolsters the guard corps with the ability to handle the ball and score on the wing. The frontcourt takes shape behind all-conference forwards Zoey Ward (Iona) and Doyinsola Lijirin (Wagner), along with Kaliyah Dillard, who joins DePaul after a stint at San Jose State. Louis Volker (George Mason), Nyah Lowery (Pacific) and Emily Bojan (Wisconsin) provide veteran experience and can be dangerous from a variety of positions.

UIC enters its fifth season under head coach Ashleen Bracey after going 14-18 a year ago, including 9-11 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Flames were picked sixth in the MVC Preseason Poll for the fourth straight year. Junior Julia Coleman leads five returners after earning All-MVC Third Team, All-MVC Defensive Team and All-MVC Newcomer Team honors last season. UIC also welcomes nine newcomers, headlined by senior transfer Neveah Foster, who averaged 12.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game at IU Indy last season.

The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 38-6. UIC took the most recent meeting, 77-67, on Dec. 17, 2025 at Credit Union 1 Arena.

DePaul opens the regular season Nov. 3 against Evansville at Wintrust Arena, the first of three home games in six days with Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 6) and Stonehill (Nov. 8) to follow.
