DePaul Falls at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The DePaul women’s soccer team lost the first of two road matches on Friday night at Louisville, 2-1. With the loss, the Blue Demons drop to 5-9-1 overall and 0-6-1 in league action.
After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie at halftime, Louisville’s Jerika Amos headed in a corner kick from Leigh Caroll in the 64th minute to give the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage. Louisville scored again at 78:36 when Melissa Wark knocked a shot to the left side past DePaul keeper Lindsey Deason.
Down 2-0, the Blue Demons pressed late in the match looking to tie the game. In the 84th minute, Claire Sharkey scored her first collegiate goal to cut the Louisville lead to 2-1. Sharkey headed in a corner kick by fellow freshman Kelly Kammer. DePaul continued to pressure for the remaining few minutes but couldn’t find the net.
The Blue Demons play their second game of the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Cincinnati. The Bearcats are the lone undefeated team in Conference USA matches after knocking off Marquette, 2-1, in double overtime on Friday.
