Bruno and C-USA Coaches to Hold Clinic

CHICAGO – Along with four Conference USA women’s basketball coaches, DePaul head coach Doug Bruno will hold a free coaches clinic on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the DePaul Athletic Center.
Featured speakers at the clinic include some of the top coaches in Conference USA. The coaches will be lecturing on the various principles and ideas that have built their programs and Conference USA into one of the premier conferences in the country.

10-10:30 a.m. – Registration
10:30a.m.-1 p.m. – Doug Bruno (DePaul University)
Topic: DePaul Offensive and Defensive Systems
Bruno begins his 16th season at DePaul and has led the Blue Demons to seven NCAA and three WNIT Tournament appearances. He was also the head coach of the Chicago Hustle in the Women’s Basketball League from 1978-80.
1-1:30 p.m. – Lunch
1:30-2:20 p.m. – Terri Mitchell (Marquette University)
Topic: Marquette Defense
Mitchell is a two-time Conference USA Coach of the Year while leading the Golden Eagles to back-to-back league championships. This season, she will become the second coach in Marquette history to win 100 games.
2:20-3:10 p.m. – Jill Pizzotti (Saint Louis University)
Topic: Screening and Motion Offense
Pizzotti begins her seventh season with the Billikens and has led the program to double-figure victory totals in each of the last five seasons. The Chicago native is a graduate of Willowbrook High School.
3:10-4 p.m. – Jeff Mittie (Texas Christian University)
Topic: Individual Player Development
In just two seasons at TCU, Mittie led the Horned Frogs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A year ago, the Frogs set numerous school records while making their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
4-4:50 p.m. – Joe Curl (University of Houston)
Topic: Coaching Modern-Day Athletics
A year ago, Curl led the Cougars to their first postseason appearance eight years. Beginning his fourth season at Houston, he coached a pair of All-Conference USA selections and the league’s Freshman of the Year last season.
