Blue Demons Win Moran Realty Classic

CHICAGO - The DePaul women's basketball team improved to 2-0 and won the 2001 Moran Realty Classic on Saturday evening with an 86-68 win over Arkansas State. Tournament MVP Lenae Williams scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the victory.
After taking a 39-36 lead at the half, the Blue Demons outscored the Lady Indians, 47-32, in the second half. Four players reached double figures for DePaul as Sarah Kustok added 15, Lindsay Forsberg 14 points and Jamie Smith scored 12 points.
For the game, the Blue Demons shot .491 from the field while holding Arkansas State to a .292 percentage. From three-point range, DePaul was 11-22 including five three's from Kustok and three from Forsberg. Kustok joined Williams on the All-Tournament team.
For Arkansas State, Cassie Lowman scored 16 points while Jolie McKeirnan added 11 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Up next for the Blue Demons is the Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge in Ames, Iowa. DePaul plays host Iowa State on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Maryland and Mississippi State open the tourney with a 5:30 tipoff.
