CHICAGO - DePaul senior forward and All-American candidate Lenae Williams is currently ranked second in the country with a 25.8 scoring average through the Blue Demons' first nine games. Williams ranks second to UAB's Deanna Jackson who is scoring at a rate of 26.8 points per contest. The Addison, Ill., native leads the nation with 232 total points.
Also in the NCAA rankings are her single-game totals of 41 points against No. 6 Iowa State and 39 points against Illinois. The 41 is tied for the NCAA single-game high this season with George Mason's Laura Kooij and Tennessee Tech's Janet Holt. Williams' 39 points against Illinois on Dec. 4, put her in a tie with Austin Peay's Brooke Armistead and Mississippi State's Latoya Thomas for the second-highest single-game total this season.
Next week, Williams and the Blue Demons will be tested as they host No. 7 Purdue on Dec. 17 and No. 2 Tennessee on Dec. 19. The Blue Demons enter the two-game stretch with an 11-game home winning streak and 16-2 overall home record. Tipoff for both games is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the DePaul Athletic Center.
