DePaul posted its largest margin of victory ever in a conference game by beating Tulane 84-44 on Saturday. Below is a brief summary of the game.
DePaul 84 Tulane 44
February 17, 2001 - New Orleans Arena - New Orleans, La.
DePaul had six players in double figures led by Lance Williams and Steve Hunter with 16 points while Joe Tulley added 13 and Imari Sawyer, Andre Brown and Rashon Burno all chipped in with 10. Williams led the Blue Demons with eight rebounds while Sawyer dished out seven assists.
Big Win
The Blue Demons' 40-point win at Tulane was the largest margin of victory in a conference game in DePaul history. The previous high was 35 points in a 103-68 win over Dayton on March 4, 1995 at the Rosemont Horizon. That game was the Blue Demons final regular season Great Midwest Conference contest. The victory total was also the third-highest in Conference USA history.
Totally 80s
Bobby Simmons was in the starting lineup for Saturday's win at Tulane and that should come as no surprise. Simmons, a 6-7 junior, has started every game of his Blue Demon career - a span of 89 consecutive contests. He is the only DePaul player to start every game in the past three years.
Hunter 1-2 In C-USA
DePaul's Steve Hunter leads Conference USA in field goal percentage and is second in blocked shots. In Saturday's win at Tulane, the 7-0 sophomore was 7-9 from the field while scoring 16 points. For the season, Hunter is 117-195 (.600) from the field and has 60 blocked shots (2.4 bpg).
