Women's Tennis Wins Two Big Matches

CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s tennis team posted one of the more impressive weekends in recent memory as it posted two impressive wins.
On Friday, DePaul opened the Conference USA season with a 4-3 win over Cincinnati at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. The Blue Demons secured the victory when Stephanie Matko posted a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win in the No. 4 singles.
Sunday saw DePaul rally by winning the last four singles matches to earn the victory at the Five Seasons Racquet Club in Burr Ridge, Ill. Karen Falduto’s victory at No. 5 secured the victory.
“ Friday was a great college tennis match in front of a great crowd at Lakeshore,” head coach Mark Ardizzone said. “Sunday was a tremendous comeback. Natalie Matko had the flu and Megan Stewart stepped into the lineup and came up huge with a big singles win.
“All weekend the team showed incredible fight with a great win over conference rival and the 61st-ranked team in the country, I was really proud of our resolve,” Ardizzone said.
