EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's tennis team showed why it's ranked 12th in the nation by beating the Blue Demons 7-0 on Wednesday.
The Wildcats swept the singles matches but the Blue Demons were able to pick up a victory in doubles play when Brenda Leung and Natalie Matko captured an 8-1 win at No. 2.
"We played very well despite score," head coach Mark Ardizzone said. "We won second doubles and Marina (Parashkevova), Natalie and Karen (Falduto) played tough matches. Szilvia (Kelemen) played well but her opponent is ranked 16th in country.
"We played very hard against one of the best teams in the country and really held our own. Should show us we can play with anyone if we work very hard," Ardizzone said.
