CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s basketball team will have 21 regular-season games broadcasted live on the athletic department’s official website, www.depaulbluedemons.com, beginning this weekend with the Moran Realty Classic. In addition to the internet audio, at least five games will be televised this season on ESPN2, FOX Sports Net Chicago or the C-USA Television Network.
In all, Blue Demon fans will be able to hear or watch DePaul live in 25 of the 27 regular-season games in 2003-04. DePaul is teaming up with SportsJuice.com to broadcast the games on the world wide web for the third consecutive season.
Jeff Friedman will handle the play-by-play duties along with color analyst Kathryn Statz. A 20-minute pre-game show will preview the game with DePaul head coach Doug Bruno. During the games, fans can e-mail questions to broadcast@depaulbluedemons.com which will be answered either during the game or during the post-game show.
The television schedule includes a pair of games on ESPN2. The Blue Demons are just one of 14 women's basketball programs in the country to appear at least twice on the ESPN network this season. DePaul’s Jan. 11 contest against the Cincinnati Bearcats will be nationally televised by the network while the Feb. 8 game against Marquette will be regionally broadcasted on ESPN2. Both games will be played at the DePaul Athletic Center. FOX Sports Net Chicago is televising the Tulane matchup on Jan. 25 and the final two games of the season, at TCU and at Marquette, will be on the C-USA TV Network. Potential televised games for the Blue Demons include the C-USA Tournament semifinals on the C-USA TV Network and the championship game on ESPN2. ESPN will also carry the NCAA Tournament.
