CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The DePaul women's soccer team continued the quest for their first Conference USA Tournament title with a 2-0 win over Tulane on Thursday. Freshman Lauren Spacht tallied both goals in the first half while goalkeeper Lindsey Deason tallied a career-high 13 saves with her school-record seventh shutout of the season. The Blue Demons take on the Saint Louis Billikens at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday. The C-USA TV Network will carry the match.
Spacht didn't waste any time as she found the back of the net at 5:06 to notch her second game-winner of the season. She came back with her sixth goal of the year at 21:16 to give DePaul a commanding first-half lead.
Deason played the best game of her three-year career as she stopped 13 Tulane (11-7-1) shots. In the match, the Green Wave matched DePaul with 18 shots apiece. Both teams took eight shots in the first half and 10 attempts in the second half. DePaul held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks in the match.
In their first C-USA Tournament appearance since 1997, the Blue Demons advance to the finals. A win on Saturday gives them Conference USA's automatic bid to the NCAA College Cup. A week ago, the Blue Demons lost, 1-0, at Saint Louis in the regular-season finale.
The match will be televised at 1 p.m. CST on the C-USA TV Network. College Sports Television (CSTV) will carry the game live on DirectTV Ch. 610. FOX Sports Net Chicago will show the game on tape delay on Monday, Nov. 11 at Noon CST.
