Khara Smith Named C-USA Player of the Week

CHICAGO – DePaul sophomore forward Khara Smith was named the Conference USA Player of the Week it was announced today by the league. In three Blue Demons victories over Northwestern, Illinois and Holy Cross, she averaged 22.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while shooting .571 from the field. She is the first DePaul player to earn the weekly honor this season. As a freshman, she was named player of the week on two occasions.
Smith started the week with 18 points, six boards and four assists in DePaul’s 82-57 win at Northwestern. She followed that up with her first double-double of the week against Illinois with 24 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots. Smith saved her best game of the week for last as she tallied career-high’s of 26 points and 16 rebounds in DePaul’s 86-73 win at Holy Cross. The double-double at Holy Cross was her fourth of the season in five games.
The Blue Demons are in the midst of a two-game swing through New England. They opened the trip with a win at Holy Cross and finish it with a Wednesday night game at Manhattan. Tipoff with the Jaspers is set for 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday night.
