CHICAGO – Women’s tennis looks ahead to a full weekend as they take on three regional teams.
The Blue Demons (5-5) are coming off of a split weekend on the road. Last Friday, DePaul dropped to Michigan State in a near sweep 1-6 before shutting out Bradley 7-0 on Saturday.
Head Coach Mark Ardizzone and his team have been competing without their No. 1 singles player, Martina Parashkevova, due to an injury.
On Friday, the Blue Demons welcome Bowling Green (2-2) to the Lakeshore Athletic Club. The Falcons are currently at .500 in their spring season. Last weekend in their match against Cincinnati, they captured the last two singles matches and scored the doubles point but it just wasn’t enough to rally back. The Falcons lost 5-2. Bowling Green is coached by Penny Dean in her 13th season.
Saturday, DePaul heads to Western Michigan to battle the Broncos at the West Hills Athletic Club. The Broncos are 2-4 this spring season and are coming off of a loss to No. 52 Purdue. Frederika Girsang, Melanie Peters, and Valeria Stoilova have all earned Mid-American Conference Championships for their school and will be tough competition for the Blue Demons. The Broncos are coached by Betsy Kuhle in her 21st season.
DePaul will play their last set of matches against Ball State on Sunday at the Muncie YMCA Indoor Tennis Center. The Cardinals (5-1) split two games last weekend after beating UIC and taking their first loss from No. 50 Indiana. Head Coach Kathy Bull is currently in her 15th season with the Cardinals.
The Blue Demons were originally scheduled to play Chicago State earlier on Friday but the match has been postponed to a later, undetermined date.
