CHICAGO – The women’s tennis team has been nationally ranked for the first time this season. The Blue Demons are currently tied in the No. 75 spot with six other teams.
The Blue Demons entered the Omni Hotels/ITA Tennis Rankings with eight votes. Their record is currently 9-6 (2-0 C-USA).
The Demon roster has great depth that has carried them through the spring season. One of DePaul’s standouts, Szilvia Kelemen, just earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors.
Coach Mark Ardizzone and his crew opened up conference play last weekend with two wins over Cincinnati and ranked Memphis. They are currently on a three-match winning streak.
Looking Ahead
On Saturday, DePaul will attempt to secure their spot among the nation’s best when they take on Indiana and Indiana State in Bloomington, Ind.
Indiana is currently 4-5 and has lost its last four times out but all to ranked opponents. The Hoosiers are ranked No. 56 and are coached by Lin Loring, the most winningest coach in the history of NCAA women’s tennis.
Indiana State is currently at 4-4. The Sycamores earned three 7-0 shut-outs last weekend against DePauw, Hope, and Dayton.
