Soccer Buzz Announce Post-Season Awards

CHICAGO – DePaul freshman Julianne Sitch continued to receive accolades for her impressive rookie season with the Blue Demons as she received numerous honors recently from Soccer Buzz Magazine.
The women’s soccer publication named Sitch the Great Lakes Region Freshman of the Year and a second team freshman All-American. She also garnered first team and All-Freshman honors for the Great Lakes Region.
After an outstanding freshman season with the Blue Demons, Sitch was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association by being named third team All-Great Lakes Region. She was the only freshman named to the region’s top three teams. Sitch also earned second team All-Conference and All-Freshman recognition from Conference USA.
She helped the Blue Demons to the program’s first 10-win season while setting the program’s single-season scoring record. In 19 matches this season, the midfielder/forward set the program’s single-season scoring record with 21 points on eight goals and five assists. The freshman recorded at least a goal or an assist in eight of the 19 games while leading C-USA with 83 shots. Twice she recorded a season-high four points with a pair of goals against Tulane, and a goal and two assists at Northern Illinois.
As a team, the Blue Demons set new school records in wins (10), goals (29), shutouts (7) and goals against average (1.20). Overall, the club finished the season with a 10-8-1 record while going 3-6-1 in C-USA action.
